Success - Partnership Looms for
Local Companies |
 Three
simple words: “Keep it local.” That is
exactly how Bradford company
Dracup (UK) Ltd
felt when they decided to use the
Electronics Yorkshire web site to find an
electronics company in the region who could
design and develop a new control unit, which
could be incorporated into their Jacquard
weaving loom. The intention was to attract a
company who could provide a simple solution
without having to outsource the work abroad.
Brian Jaikens, Development & IT Manager at
Dracup goes on to explain: “As a member of
the
Electronics Yorkshire network, I thought
I would use their web site facility to
source a company in the region to produce
the new control unit. I found another
Bradford company, BioDigital Limited, who
were able to meet our requirements and after
initial discussions it was clear I had
located a suitable partner to carry out the
work - amazingly they were also just around
the corner!”
BioDigital Ltd has been providing
electronics design and development solutions
for over four years. These solutions have
been used in hair irons, spot-welding
equipment and popcorn dispensers, and now in
weaving looms. Managing Director Geoffrey
Swales said: “Thanks in the main to the
Electronics Yorkshire web site, we have been
able to form a partnership with a local
company,
Dracup Ltd, providing them with a
product which will put them ahead of the
competition. In addition, we are also
discussing potential new projects with them
for the future.”
Dracup have also successfully posted a
manufacturing tender opportunity on the web
site, which resulted in twelve enquiries
from electronics companies in the region.
Subsequently, they have placed the work with
ABI of Barnsley.
Brian Jaikens comments: “Where possible, we
would prefer our design and manufacturing
work to be carried out by companies in the
Yorkshire and Humber region. It has been
very helpful to us in terms of the
manufacturing process to outsource the work
locally and the Electronics Yorkshire web
site and tender service has played a vital
role in this.”
